The extent to which biology teachers possess TPACK skills and its relationship to their achievement motivation and future outlook
Abstract
The present study aimed to identify the extent to which biology teachers possess Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) skills and to investigate the relationship between these skills, achievement motivation, and future outlook. The study adopted a descriptive correlational research design. The research sample consisted of 40 biology teachers. The researchers developed two research instruments: the first was a TPACK Skills Scale consisting of 36 items, and the second was an Achievement Motivation Scale consisting of 32 items in its final version. In addition, the researchers adopted the Future Outlook Scale developed by Al-Karaawi (2025), as it was deemed appropriate for the objectives of the study and the research sample; the scale consisted of 25 items.
The findings indicated that the participants demonstrated a moderate level of both TPACK skills and achievement motivation, whereas their level of future outlook was low. The results also revealed a moderate positive correlation between TPACK skills and achievement motivation, as well as a weak positive correlation between TPACK skills and future outlook. Based on these findings, the researchers presented a number of recommendations and suggestions.
